Family Feet and Corn Bags.....

The colder weather is setting in....it is was SNOWING tonight and our overnight temperatures are going to be about 25 degrees! Not that the snow will linger but it looked beautiful. For Family Night we lit the fireplace, put on some slippers, got out the corn bags and had our lesson.
Afterwards we had our regular treat..brownies! We make them just about EVERY Monday night -- slightly under cooked so they are just a tad gooey....yummy!

Sunday Drive....

Today we went for a drive to retrieve a book that Abigail
left at her friends house on a sleepover on Friday night and I took my trusty camera along for the ride. I was glad I did!

Isn't this tree amazing?

That is one determined tree!!

Sunday Sunset...
a beautiful ending to a wonderful day!

What Will Happen If.....

Jacob's question of the day.....
If a cat always lands on its feet
and a buttered piece of bread always
lands butter side down,
what will happen if you attached a buttered
piece of bread, butter side up, on a cat's back
and dropped the cat from a tall tree?
Humm....anyone have an answer for THAT one??? :)
See why we love this kid?

Welcome Snow Showers....

Here it is only November and we are expecting snow showers tomorrow!

Many of you already know that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the snow so I am anxious and excited to see it come. In central Kentucky we see very little "real" snow. In fact, in the 13 years we have lived here we have only had one major snowfall and that was our second winter here. It was the winter of 1996 and it started out with a forecast of 1-2" of snow then went 2-4", then 4-6", 6-8"....and it just kept going until we had 22"! The Valenta family was in its glory that year! We made snowmen, igloos, snow angels and forts -- what a blast! School was closed for a week and it was p-a-r-t-y- at our house!

While I know this weekend won't bring a major storm or any accumulation, I am giddy at the the thought of the onset of winter! I say..... Bring It On!! :)

A p.s. on the picture.....this is a picture from a few years ago when we got some ice. :)

A Window To His Love....

We had a wonderful Enrichment meeting tonight that was titled "A Window To His Love" after the song written and sung by Julie de Azevedo. If you've never heard the song you can see hear the tune of it at http://www.geocities.com/sjbagwell81/window.html
I first heard this song years ago sung by a young girl in our ward. From start to finish it made me cry and still does today.

I want to be a window to His love,
so when you look at me you will see Him.
I want to be so pure and clear that you won't even know I'm here,
'cause His love will shine brightly through me.

I want to be a doorway to the truth,
so when you walk beyond you will find Him.
I want to stand so straight and tall, that you won't notice me at all.
But through my open door He will be seen.

A window to His love.
A doorway to the truth.
A bearer of the message He'd have me bring to you
And with each passing day
I want to fade away.
'Till only He can be seen And I become a window to His love.

I want to be a window to His love,
so you can look through me and you'll see Him.
And some day shining through my face, you'll see His loving countenance,
'cause I will have become like He is

A window to His love.
A doorway to the truth.
A bearer of the message He'd have me bring to you
And with each passing day
I want to fade away.
'Till only He can be seen And I become...

A window to His love
A doorway to the truth.
A bearer of the message He'd have me bring to you.
And with each passing year I want to disappear
'Till He's become ev'rything and I've become a window to His love.

Do I Look Like I Want To Be Hugged Right Now?...

The kids and I get to laughing every now and then (like this morning) about something that I once said in my frustration. At least we can laugh about it....

We were in Walmart and with three kids talking, asking for things, pleading for me to "look" at something -- whatever they were all saying at the time -- I was maxed out. Abigail leaned into me and hugged me. In my irritation I said, "Abigail, don't!" She said, "I was just hugging you." I blurted out, "Do *I* LOOK like I WANT to be HUGGED right NOW?!!!"

Well, as soon as I said it we all busted out laughing and they have quoted me ever since! It is good to be able to laugh about the thoughtless things we say and do sometimes!

**Does anyone recognize this little smiling pepper? Yup, he's still hanging on! I discovered him 12 days ago and he's just drying on my window sill. Does he look like he wants to be hugged? :)
