This is Tim with the then mayor of Lexington, Kentucky, Teresa Issac in January 2007. There was a "Best Places to Work in Kentucky" breakfast that Tim was attending because the company he works for is one of the best places to work in Kentucky. :) (Yeah, LDC!)
A few weeks before this breakfast happened Tim had emailed Mayor Issac to ask her if she could call his dad who is the mayor of Lexington, Minnesota and was celebrating his 80th birthday. :) She DID call Tim's dad and wished him a happy birthday! So at this breakfast Tim talked to Mayor Issac and said he was the one who emailed asking if she could call his dad. She was pleased to meet Tim and invited him to go to her office and take pictures together so he could send them to his dad! What fun that was for Tim but especially for his dad! :)
I tag:
1. Patty
2. Marissa
3. Robin
4. Sierra

My Favorite Sport...

Paper purging has got to be my favorite sport. I usually do it the very beginning of the year to give myself that fresh start feeling but this year I was a little preoccupied with my knight facing the cancer dragon. So the paper purge took a back seat to the dragon...until today.

It's time to worry about filing taxes so today that is what Tim worked on while I kept him company at the table working on my papers. I love to shred papers. It feels so good to reduce an 8 x 10 sheet of paper to slivers! Paper is frustrating. It's my stress relief to grind the paper monsters that seem to mulitply in my sleep and wreak havoc on my brain. Shredding paper is like pay back and it feels good. :) I shredded two full trash bags worth of paper....what a great day it was....for me anyway....

Tim had other thoughts of his own...

Happy Winter....

You Know Kentuckians Have Had Too Much Snow When.....

I love snow. I love snowmen. In fact, I have a "snowman tree" that I put up at Christmas time and leave up until...well, until the beginning of February this year! It just came down a few days ago. It is like a primal chant for snow by leaving it up. Apparently it worked since we've had ice and snow over the past few weeks!

As much as I love snowmen, even *I* laughed at this picture! :)

Happy Winter Everyone...am I the only one hoping for more snow?

The Knight and I....

I want to learn how to do that.....

A Few Wonderful Things....

Wonderful Things About Snow & Ice
*All last week off from school!

*Saturday and Sunday no radiation to go to :) (although I woke up on Saturday morning panicked that we were late for radiation!)..okay, that one had nothing to do with snow and ice but it is wonderful just the same!

*A two hour delay for school on Monday!

*Tuesday we began school on time but we got out early because of more snow!

*Another snow day on Wednesday!

*Red cheeks, cold ears, and smiling faces :)

*Hot chocolate and warm spiced apple cider

*Drying snowy, wet clothes in the dryer because the kids got soaked from sledding

Steps On The Path....

*I found this post saved in my drafts for my blog. It was written back in October 2008. Little did I know at the time the next steps that were ahead...

I've been thinking lately about the steps I have taken in my life..... So many of them, some huge but some seemingly so small but still of such great importance.

At the age of 16 I stepped into the waters of baptism. Becoming a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was my beginning step -- the step on the path to the rest of my life.

At the age of 17 came the step to receive my patriarchal blessing. What a wonderful guide that has been for me. I am always reassured when I re-read the promised blessings that are mine if I remain faithful.

At the age of 23 I stepped toward an eternal marriage. I married far above what I deserved. My choice in a companion has proven to be nothing short of spectacular!

By 24 I took my first step into motherhood holding tightly to hand of my eternal companion. I remember fondly the days when my children where little. I felt like a good mom, a fun mom, a happy mom. I remember sitting next to our first child in the front seat of our small car, handing him french fries and hearing him say, "fry-fry?" with that question in his voice as he learned a new word for french fries. :) I remember that same day, minutes later, sitting there crying because I could not comprehend how I could find room in my heart to love the second child that was on the way. The thought of dividing my time, my love and my heart was inconceivable. But as every mother knows it is possible to love other children that come into the family as much as the first. I went on to have 5 more after our first child and I can tell you that I loved each of them just as much as the first. I don't claim to know how but it happens, like magic. Maybe because motherhood is magic.

I've stepped on to the path of teenage-hood, a path that many times is shaky at best. It's a good thing that that motherhood magic casts it's spell because often you have to draw on the magic you once felt to be able to survive the years when the magic just ain't happenin'! :) I know that those of you who have trod my same path know what I'm talking about!

I've recently taken the step into mother-in-law-hood....what a very nice step it is. Our sweet daughter-in-law has come into our family with a big heart and a big smile and loving our son. We cannot help but to love her -- we have from the start. We can only hope that all of our children choose so wisely when they are looking for an eternal companion.

So many steps taken, so many more to come.....
